Bug Description

Distribution KXSudio, i.e. Kubuntu 14.04 with 3.13.0-44-lowlatency kernel.

The touchpad works only as a standard mouse and is very difficult to use whith accuracy : the cursor moves as soon as I try to click... I have to touch only the very edge of the pad to succeed. No scroll, two-fingers click and other features.
No possibility to change settings : "no Synaptics driver loaded" message in SystemSettings.

WIth an external usb mouse everything is ok.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I tested both generic and lowlatency 3.19-rc6 kernels. For both the bug is still there. Only differnce I could notice is that the touchpad now appears as "PS/2 FocalTech FocalTech Touchpad in mouse emulation". See below :

mvergnaud, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19-rc6 to 4.0-rc1 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting.

Thank you for your understanding.
