Bug Description
I have set up udev to create symlinks
mario@phonic: ~ $ cat /etc/udev/
# Configuration file for cdsymlinks
# Output links for these types of devices.
# Allowed keywords are CD, CDR, CDRW, DVD, DVDRW, DVDRAM, CDMRW, CDWMRW.
# Other words are accepted but ignored.
#OUTPUT="CD CDRW DVD DVDRW DVDRAM"
OUTPUT="CD DVD"
# Whether to output numbered links.
# 1 = output 'cdrom1', 'dvd1' etc. for other devices
# 0 = don't output 'cdrom1', 'dvd1' etc.
# We always output 'cdrom', 'dvd' etc. for the best-match devices.
#NUMBERED_LINKS=1
mario@phonic: ~ $
However, udev does not create the links on bootup.
mario@phonic: ~ $ ls /dev/cd*
ls: /dev/cd*: No such file or directory
mario@phonic: ~ $ ls /dev/dvd*
ls: /dev/dvd*: No such file or directory
mario@phonic: ~ $
In /etc/udev/rules.d, create a symlink to ../cd-aliases. rules. I have no idea why
something like this is not done by default.
