nvidia-331-updates-uvm 331.113-0ubuntu0.1: nvidia-331-updates-uvm kernel module failed to build

Was running 'sudo apt-get install linux-generic' to upgrade my 14.04 to 14.10. I had already done the release upgrade, but my kernel was lagging and I tried this from some advice I found online.
