in vivid it seems slightly different, i have 2 headsets and a bose soundlink iii, blueman can pair all 3, and all 3 can receive sound directly via ~/.asoundrc defined devices. however i am unable to send sound to any of them via pulse, from vlc, mplayer, or linphone. When i connect either headset to Headset Service they (usually) do show up in pavucontrol. the bose however, tho pactl list short shows module-bluetooth-discover is loaded, and tho blueman says the bose is connected to Audio Sink, still it never shows up in pavucontrol.

let me revise that, in vivid, gmail (via firefox via google chat) *is* able to find and successfully use whichever headset is connected to Headset Service, consistent with it showing up in pavucontrol. yay! it remains i do not see why linphone won't do that, nor why the bose won't show up in pavucontrol.
