Bug Description

Whenever I logout of an active desktop session, as the screen goes black I get a crash dialogue informing me that kdeinit5 has segfaulted. Unfortunatley it will not let me report from this dialogue as it states:
" You cannot report this error, because kdeinit5 does not providea bug reporting address".
I've installed the kinit-dbg and kded5-dbg packages but it still complains the crash information is not useful and tells me to install kinit-dbg (which I already did). When this happens the screen just stays mostly black with only the crash dialog pressent. Pressing close on the dialogue does nothing except make the diaglogue no longer accessable. The screen just stays as is and the log in screen never appears.

The system has not hung and I can drop to a terminal and run "sudo service sddm restart" to workaround the issue and get the log in screen to show.

I forgot to add that this happens with the KDE 5.2 update, too. The system is up to date with archive.ubuntu.com.

I was able to work around the problem by getting to a text console, and executing "sudo restart sddm" on Kubuntu 15.05 alpha2.

Logout causes this every single time for me; it is not intermittent or sporadic. My X video driver is "vmware".

Just thought I'd add that I've tested my system using systemd init mode (selected in Grub) and the problem is still there. All packages are up to date as well.

With the latest updates I no longer get a message that kdeinit5 has crashed on logout. I'm still left with a cursor and blank screen though. It never loads the log in screen.

Yesterday I had no problem but since I turned on the PC today I have this problem. The loading screen never loads and I get a black screen and cursor. I only can star KDE from the recovery mode, entering the root console and typing startx.
