Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-extension-gwget

This extension doesn't show up in the Extensions menu with the other bundled extensions (why is it separate?).

Here's a related forum thread, suggesting the problem is related to version numbers:

Got the extension to show up by moving it from /usr/lib/epiphany/2.19/extensions to .../2.20/extensions, but it doesn't work. No context menu option, and downloads still use the internal download manager.

Not sure I understand the debate over which package is to blame, but the package I installed was "epiphany-extension-gwget"...

That was probably already clear, just making sure.

Hello,

I have the same problem. I succeed to see the gwget extension in the Epiphany's extension menu by moving the files but the extension doesn't work.

I think the problem is that the gwget extension isn't compiled for the 2.20 version of Epiphany but for the 2.19 (wich explains why the files are in the 2.19 extension's directory).

Bye.

I got it running by doing:
sudo apt-get install epiphany-browser-dev
svn co http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gwget/trunk gwget
cd gwget
sed -i 's/2.18/2.20/g' configure.in
./autogen.sh --enable-epiphany-extension --prefix=/usr --with-epiphany-version=2.20
make
sudo make install

Sadly this extension only works when gwget is running before you start a download.

Will somebody update the package?

I got the same result just copying the files from 2.19/extensions to 2.20/extensions directory and referencing 2.20 in gwget.xml (line 57):
<attribute name="library">/usr/lib/epiphany/2.20/extensions/libgwgetextension.so</attribute>

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 RC or later?

Not for me, I can't even install the package because of bad
dependencies.

My fault, I didn't remember I have gwget and epiphany-extension-gwget 1.0.1 from Alessio Treglia's PPA:

Try it if you can't wait.

The bug can be closed now, it's working for me, and for everyone I
think, with the new version. Thanks.
