Bug Description
Hi backports-team.
Im a Kubuntu (Feisty) User and wanted to check out the kde4 beta2 to help bug-hunting.
Following the instructions on http://
Dolphin can be started via 'run command' (right click on Desktop) but almost no 'kde-parts' seem to work.
Many people seem to have the same kind of trouble: http://
According to the information provided by 'poborskii' in this forum (Entry #46):
"Official KDE 4.0 beta 2 tarballs are probably broken and incomplete due to some changes between modules within packaging of tarballs. Some aplications (e.g. Kopete, Kicker) or files are missing. SVN snapshot tarballs are probably OK. And second problem, Kubuntu didn't compile some beta 2 modules (kdepim, kdetoys, kdeaddons are still beta 1 in repository, gutsy and feisty-backports). And third problem, Kubuntu didn't compile kdegraphics, kdeartwork and kdeedu for feisty-backports until today. Beta 2 for Kubuntu is totally broken, grrr... Only possibility is compiling from SVN."
If this is true, could someone please fix the packages or at least remove them (temporarily) from the repo, cause right now its a multi-100MB download for pretty much nothing.
Thanks very much and keep up the great work!
I can confirm that. I have Beta 2 and the packages are broken. In addition, kde4libs-data seems to be not installed, while kde4libs that depends on it, is installed. kdelibs4-data can't be installed because it conflicts with kdebase-workspace.
