Bug Description
When editing a path, nodes do not snap to grid.
1) Check that grids are visable (View->Page Grid)
2) Check that (Enable Snapping button is enabled)
3) Check that (Snap nodes, paths and handles button is enabled)
4) With bezier curve tool draw a shape, snapping works while drawing
5) With Edit path by nodes tool, move one of the nodes of the shape. snapping does not work
I am using an up to date build from BZR, revision 13829 (2014-12-31) on fedora 21.

Are the "snap cusp nodes" and/or "snap smooth nodes" buttons enabled?
While using the Bézier tool, each handle or node you create will snap. It will create either cusp or smooth nodes, depending on whether you're drawing curves or straight lines, but regardless of that: it will try to snap.
Now when you subsequently switch to the node tool and make modifications to your path, then you'll be dragging either a cusp or smooth node. You will have to select what should snap and what shouldn't snap explicitly, by toggling the "snap cusp nodes" and/or "snap smooth nodes" buttons on the toolbar
