Fonts unreadable ( minimal size ) or X-related crashes

Bug Description

After fetching the update pack of 18/19 Sept. 2007 for Gusty development branch, the fonts in some GTK and KDE applications display in minimal size and are unreadable or the applications crash with an X-related error.

BAD:

- Gnome Terminal ( unreadable )
- gnome-appearance-properties ( crashes )
- KPhone ( unreadable )
- "KDE Crash-Degugger" ( unreadable )
- Konsole ( crashes )
- Other KDE Apps: mostly crash

The Gnome-Appeareance Properties won't start. See diagnostic xterm-screenshot.

You can fix the problems caused by this "fix" of Bug #118745 using the instructions here :

But seems to be quite critical. Some idea for "component"?
