Bug Description
After installing the most recent upgrades (evening of 9/17/07, with everything working fine after a previous update this morning), the terminal becomes nonfunctional. Commands still appear to work, but it opens with an extremely wide (about 3/4 of the screen) fixed width that cannot be decreased, and typed commands do not appear, nor does the standard command prompt (username@hostname$ `currentfolder`). Occasionally a flashing horizontal black line will appear near the top of the screen. Menu bars display but are non-functional. Disabling desktop effects does nothing to fix this.
