I didn't know that I had to use apport, I used the report bug button from the error screen that popped up during the install.

Firemedic, normally apport is for filling your own reports not other's. When you use the button you said you create a new report, and that's enough.

And for filling non-crash bugs, you can use "ubuntu-bug [affected-package]".

From Apttermlog.txt we can see:

You seem to be missing the extlinux package - http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man8/extlinux-update.8.html. This seems to be required to remove syslinux-themes-debian.

Is it possible that it was removed during the upgrade? Once the upgrade was complete I was able to install the package from the command line using sudo apt-get install syslinux-themes-debian. It installed without any errors.
