X memory leak - using 5.5GB of RAM after 5 days

Bug Description

After 5 days of uptime, X is using 70% of 8GB RAM that I have in my machine (according to htop). I tried restarting, but X always just keeps using more and more RAM. The machine is on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit.
