Holds – advanced options. E-resource record with item attached will not allow hold

Bug Description

When using the advanced hold options for a bibliographic record coded as an e-resource (Form = o) but with a copy attached; hold cannot be placed. Error message received is This item does not have any formats available for holds placement.

If you do not choose the advanced option, you can place the hold.

Hi Elaine,

This typically means that the record in question does not have a format that is considered holdable within the context of metarecords. It may not have a "mr_hold_format" value against which holds may be placed.

I’m hesitant to mark this as a duplicate, but it seems similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1292632

Erica,

Understood -- but that is still a problem since it is switching holds rules, which are set with the circ modifier in this case and not the MARC record. Same hold rules should apply in any context associated with an item.
