Bug Description
I recently had my backup disk fail. However, it took me about a week to notice the failure, because, while I have been performing daily incremental backups, nothing but backintime was accessing the disk and backintime does not seem to have any means of recognizing a failure or alerting the user when a backup job gets stuck trying to make a read or write. As a result, the backup job for December 7th continued running until the 15th before I noticed a high system load average and I/O wait load and investigated the issue.
I would like to request that backintime alert the user if a backup job is still running at the time of the next scheduled job.

Fabrizio Marana wrote a nice user-callback script which is about to be merged into backintimes user-callback repository. For now you can download it from http:// bazaar. launchpad. net/~fabrizio- marana/ backintime/ user-callback/ view/head: /user-callback. notify
This script will show a message in your notification centre if there is job already running while an other one was started.
I'd also recommend using SMART to monitor your disk health.
