Bug Description

The same description from #1385926 applies here. However, my system is Ubuntu with Unity, with a default install.

Also, the suggested workaround (choose "suspend" from menu) works too.

Aline Freitas, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)?

Aline Freitas, as per http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=6463643#N8226 an update to your BIOS is available (F.67). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi, Christopher.

Updating the BIOS is becoming more tricker than it should as HP officially only supports updating it through Windows. After many attempts through USB external disks I ended resizing my partition (luks + lvm) and creating an empty one to install Windows in it. Windows 7 was not supported because of GPT, so next try is with Windows 8.1. I'll write it back when I have it done and BIOS updated.

Thanks

As HP only releases their BIOS firmware update for my model in 64bits Windows-only exe, and after many attempts to do it without installing windows (WinPE live, for example) has failed I ended formatting everything, installing windows 8, updating the BIOS and then restoring Ubuntu.

My system is working now, fortunatelly without screen freezing.

Thank you, for your help Christopher!
