Bug Description

There is a long standing bug with xfce4's power manager through Precise and Trusty, not showing the icon and power settings telling that the power manager does not respond, offering to start the manager, but no avail other than having multiple non working xfce4-power-manger instances running. Upstream bug is XFCE4 bug 8809 ( https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8809 ), and this reportedly is fixed in xfce4-power-manager 1.3.1 (Trusty is at 1.2.0, and Xubuntu developer's ppa doesn't even list a xfce4-power-manager package. The Internet offers many pages with a workaround: delete /etc/xdg/autostart/xfce4-power-manager.desktop, and create a new startup application running the xfce4-power-manager with the --no-demon option (btw, --debug or -- dump work also).

Please, backport this fix to trusty-updates or at least to the ppa! On battery powered equipment this bug is pretty severe.

You're right, we should probably provide packages for at least Trusty.
You can meanwhile use packages from this PPA (at your own risk, as always), but we'll look into providing stable 1.4.2 packages for the 4.12 PPA too.
