    I too have the same results.
    Below is an additional snippet where the call is made through valgrind.

    While valgrind grinds, the SDL window displays "Guest has not initialized the display (yet)."

Testing this with QEMU 2.5 (and also with today's head-of-git) "qemu-system_x86-64 -machine isapc" works for me (it boots the guest bios). So I'm going to close this bug as fixed; please open a fresh bug if you still have problems with a more recent QEMU version.
