Bug Description

If your window manager hasn't the 'click to focus' box checked, then awn menu & awn Stack hide them quickly as we can focus.
So i suppose a twofold workaround :
- adding an option which ignore focus event.
- release the main panel of this apps when clicked on an empty area.

This little improvement will permit all 'click free' people to use this apps.

Confirmed.
But for me, this behavior for the window-manager is a little strange :)

This doesn't seem to be a bug related to an ubuntu package so I'm closing it.

I just marked another bug as a dup of this one, but someone on there suggested a timeout, so say it closes when you move off of it for a full second. I like that idea both to fix this and because it's not very difficult to "overshoot" some of the buttons, so a user may go to click the next or previous button at the bottom and accidentally move past it. They'd then have (a little) time to correct the mouse position and click the button before the stack closes on them. If you just spent some time navigating through folders trying to find something and all of a sudden the file browser went *poof* because you aimed poorly with the mouse, I think you'd be upset.

Fix committed to awn-extras-testing (rev 301)
Ii is now possible to disable the focus-out behaviour.
The stack stays open when it looses focus and it can be closed by clicking on the applet icon

Did you toggle the "close stack on focus out" configuration option?

I do not see it in awn-manager.

Right-click the stacks applet -> Behavior tab, "General" section.

I'm sorry. I was confused about some terminology. I will submit this issue
with broader scope for all AWN applets.

Thank you.

You could just put a transparent overlay that covers the gap between the dock and the stack. That way, the mouse wouldn't hover over anything on its way to whatever you want to click on.
