Bug Description

I'm using ubuntu 14.04 LTS, as well as tried to load 15.04 dev build downloaded today. Display showing black and white rectangles with some color noise. When in switch to text I see errors from nouveau driver in an infinite loop:
PGRAPH TLB flush idle timeout fail

I dont want install nvidia proprietary drivers, since i will need to use Xen later and it won't work with it.

WORKAROUND: Use kernel boot parameter:
nomodeset

Anton Viktorov, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc6

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

I loaded kernel 3.18.0-031800rc6-generic amd64.
Great thing - it worked, it no more stuck in infinite loops with this "flush idle" error.
However another problem exists:
- when new UI elements/windows/etc. show up on screen - i see glitches on screen - random dots and something similar to triangles - like if you put two 3d planes in 3d editors in same place or too close to each other - they start glitching and interfering.
- in few minutes computer locks up and then reboots

My bad. I thought that bug was fixed, however i looked into syslog and found same error, but with less words in PGRAPH STATUS line.

first - number of TRAP_TEXTUREs, then some FLUSH idle timeouts and then it reboots

Anton Viktorov, just to clarify, with the 3.18-rc6 is the "display showing black and white rectangles with some color noise"?

Entries in logs are irrelevant at this point as the scope of this report is on the symptom.

As well, please do not compress/tar files as it makes it harder for folks to review attachments quickly.
