Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

On my Sony VGN SZ381P, with a 13.3" screen 1280x800 native resolution, when upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy the fonts became incredibly small.

Setting a sensible value for DisplaySize in xorg.conf resolved the problem.

Are you running the same or very similar hardware?

I was running the FOSS Nvidia driver when I first saw this bug. Switching to the the binary non-free driver produces different results, with the same DisplaySize results in much smaller fonts.

WIth either the non free or the free driver, until the bug is fixed the DisplaySize option is vital to be able to have readable fonts.

A cause of the problem appears to be that the upgrade process related in this line in the xorg.conf file:

Virtual 1920 1440

Commenting this out resulted in fonts which are close to normal, and xdpyinfo now reports a resolution of 101x101 dots per inch.

I don't know enough about xorg configuration to know where the fault lies.
