Bug Description

On a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10, I am unable to see thumbnails for GIF images.

~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnailer-factory contains one PNG for every GIF I attempt to see a thumbnail of. This is reproducible; if I clear that folder and then have Nautilus refresh a folder with three GIFs in it, three PNGs will appear.

Nautilus does not use the thumbnailer, it does thumbnailing by itself. Thus this is not a bug in the thumbnailer library. Reassigning to Nautilus.
