cannot add Google Chrome to Plank

When I open Google Chrome, it´s icon is added to the dock, but a right-click only gives ¨Close All¨ and ¨Google Chrome¨, there is no ¨Keep in Dock¨

found a solution online and it worked for me
open terminal
sudo apt-get install gedit (incase you dont have it)

FIX:
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop

once thats open delete everything and paste this (already included the fix lol you can do it manually but I cant rem what i put)

I can not replicate this, the "Keep in Dock" option is present in the right lick menu.

As an officially supported alternative to editing .desktop files or using the "Keep in dock" option, you can drag and drop directly form Slingshot to "keep" app launchers in Plank.

I encountered this problem as well on Ubuntu MATE 15.04 and vdrive's solution does fix the issue. Given that it's happened on different distros too, it's more likely to be a problem with Plank and Google Chrome I think ;)

I had the same issue as Jason Swaan had, on Ubuntu MATE 15.04 as well.

The exact lines that fixed this was "StartupWMClass=Google-chrome-stable".

This line was added to the following sections:
