[HP Stream Notebook - 11-d010nr] Trackpad click does not work

I have installed ubuntu 14.10 onto a new HP Stream 11 laptop. The trackpad is a clickpad where the entire trackpad is pushed down to simulate a click, there are no other buttons. It seems that the trackpad works fine with the exception that no clicks are registered.

'ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-input-synaptics' could not be ran as it doesn't seem to have an option to hit "send" from the keyboard and the mentioned mouse button is not working.

Using the touchpad seems to disable clicking from the external mouse as well. As long as I don't touch the trackpad the external mouse works fine.

nemith, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc6

Tried kernel 3.18.0-031800rc6-generic. The issue still persists.

I am having the exact same issue with my HP Stream 11's clickpad in Lubuntu 14.10. Cursor movement acts fine until I attempt or accidentally click the clickpad at which point no mouse clicks from any source will work properly (it triggers a click but only from the point where the last click was made and cannot be further adjusted).

Disabling the clickpad with the command:
xinput set-prop 11 "Device Enabled" 0
fixes the issue, but of course makes the clickpad nonfunctional.

I have never filed a bug report before so I do not know if I am helping or not. If I can be of more help, please let me know what I can do.

If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

I am experiencing this same issue using Ubuntu 15.04 Alpha 1.

I updated the BIOS, but the problem still occurs after a few minutes of use.

I also have this problem with my HP Stream 11.

Happy to help out in anyway.

Basically the touchpad works, but it seems to stop working after using the keyboard, or clicking/tapping.. yet the cursor still can move about no matter what. Changing the settings in the system control panel does not help, no matter how much they are changed. Keyboard works with no issue.

The touchpad shows up as as a virtual device in the device list, is this normal?

Hello All,

I'm having a similar issue, but with a twist. I'm happy to create a report, but was wondering if any of the other folks with this issue have a similar experience:

When the click-ability cuts off, the cursor is still able to move BUT no matter what the status of the trackpad is, I always seem to be able to get a click registered in the menu bar. So even if I can't click a link on a website, or anything on the desktop, I can always click the shutdown button or the wifi icon, etc.

The second strange thing is that it's not just the touch-pad, it's also with a RayGo USB mouse. Thoughts on that? Thanks for all your help.
