Bug Description

The current MAAS node naming scheme is inappropriate. "Safe" words no longer become "safe" when you combine them. It would be good to address this before we end up being embarrassed at the most inappropriate time.

Noted, but I don't think we should assign engineering resources to making less perturbed those who feel uncomfortable when a non-sentient machine randomly concatenates two words.

I raised this point when the scheme was first mooted. I am of the same
opinion as Gavin at this time.

The only reasonable way of avoiding this is to revert to the old 5-letter
scheme. Or, people could just stop taking offence :)

Let's see if we can fix this by just cutting the number of nouns dramatically down to a very small, safe set.

Dustin has rustled up an alternative:

He has said, via IRC:

I think the new algorithm in these generally usable libraries avoids
[offensive names]. The libraries, python-petname and python3-petname,
have landed in Vivid, though, that wouldn't help us for trusty-updates.

What I would recommend, for the Trusty SRU, would be to just include a copy of either python-petname or the petname shell script, in the MAAS SRU source code to be used.
