In the code https://github.com/openstack/glance_store/commit/7d15d0189860cf927745373dbbe85d0a5f8b0f9e, it says [default] is deprecated. This has been replaced by [glance_store] shown in https://github.com/openstack/glance_store/commit/74a472d314f3a22c63f5e85ff1e79e4ad6937c5c. It is also documented here: http://docs.openstack.org/juno/config-reference/content/glance-conf-changes-juno.html

However the configuration file snippet in http://docs.openstack.org/juno/config-reference/content/section_glance-api.conf.html shows default_store = file under [default].

Can I get clarification on the correct glance configuration?

Why does the example configuration file in the repository [1] show '[DEFAULT] default_store', but the configuration reference [2][3] shows '[glance_store] default_store'?

Judging by https://github.com/openstack/glance_store/commit/74a472d314f3a22c63f5e85ff1e79e4ad6937c5c (linked by Darren), it looks like [DEFAULT]/default_store has been deprecated in favor of [glance_store]/default_store. The documentation should then appropriately recommend and prefer [glance_store]/default_store to [DEFAULT]/default_store.

As for why the example config in #3/[1] shows it under [DEFAULT], we just need that file to be regenerated.
