Bug Description

*** lsb_release -rd***
Description: Ubuntu 14.10
Release: 14.10

I was using the computer on batteries this morning and I opened the screen to wake the system so that I could power up a cell phone via the usb port. I never logged into the desktop, when I was done I unplugged the phone and closed the computer to put it back to sleep. The next time I opened the computer both the wireless and the bluetooth were down, the led on the computer for the wireless is off even though the physical sitch is on. I upgraded to 14.10 from 14.04 this morning hoping it may resolve this problem.

I am aware this is a common problem.

Updated the bios today and no change. Wireless is still hardlocked and bluetooth is disabled

I have tried turning the physical switch located on the side of the computer above the SD card slot on and off repeatedly with no change either.

Bryan, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing in your release) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

Bryan, for regression testing purposes, could you please test 12.04.0 with kernel 3.2.x (not 12.04.5 or some other variant) via http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04.0/ and advise to the results?

No change with regression. I ended up having to open the box and reset cmos by removal of the battery for a short period of time. This seems to have corrected the fault at this time..

Bryan, just to clarify, is this an issue with suspend or hibernate?

As well, could you please test the latest mainline kernel via 3.19-rc1 and advise to the results?
