Bug Description

how to reproduce the problem at my computer:

1) plug USB3.0 HDD to USB3.0 port at motherboard(Asrock H77M) backpanel
2) mount USB3.0 HDD
3) use it
4) unmount USB3.0 HDD
5) do suspend from 'xfce4-session-logout' or 'action button' of desktop panel,

after then, computer go into suspend state once, but right after into suspend, computer resumes by itself ,without any user interaction.

dothiko, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing in your release) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc3

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

I tested with linux-*-3.18.0-031800rc3-generic_3.18.0-031800rc3.201411022335_amd64,unfortunately the bug still exist.
But I discovered how to enter suspend state SUCCESSFULLY on my computer with usb3.0 hdd.

1) plug USB3.0 HDD to USB3.0 port at motherboard(Asrock H77M) backpanel
2) mount USB3.0 HDD
3) use it
4) still usb-hdd mounted,do suspend from 'xfce4-session-logout' or 'action button' of desktop panel

by this method,my computer can enter suspend and resume with no problem.
when unmount USB3.0 HDD before suspend, the bug happen.

Hope this can help someone else.

sorry, and thank you for telling me how to report kernel suspend problem, penalvch.

in my resume-trace dmesg.txt,

from [ 89.386795] , entered S3 suspend with ' sudo sh -c "sync && echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace && pm-suspend" '
and PC slept successfully, then resumed with powerbtn manually, as usual.

from [ 155.529084] , mount/unmount USB3.0 HDD to trigger/reproduce problem

from [ 194.783961], entered S3 suspend again -> unintentionally immidiate resume

note: I switched video card from NVIDIA(GeForce GT640/gk208) to Intel HD 2500 IGP because NVIDIA card cannot work with kernel 3.19,but nothing changes about suspend/resume problem of Asrock H77M.

dothiko, you may already be working on this, but also please provide the cat /proc/acpi/wakeup > wakeup on the latest mainline kernel, as requested in the article.

sorry I forget to attach /proc/acpi/wakeup...

I have experienced no graphical issues with both nvidia and intel in this suspend case,
so I did not capture Xorg.0.log/Xorg.0.log.old.

penalvch,I managed to post report of this issue to linux-acpi mailing list.
thanks you and your instruction documents.

by the way, kernel 3.19.rc4 still has this problem.

and I noticed that I forget to write about USB cable.
to cause this issue at my computer,USB 3.0 HDD must be connected to USB 3.0 port with USB 3.0 (5Gbps superspeed) cable.
when USB 3.0 HDD is connected to USB 3.0 port with USB 2.0 480Mbps Highspeed cable, this problem does not happen.
