Bug Description

current build number: 8
device name: mako
channel: ubuntu-touch/vivid-proposed
last update: 2014-11-04 13:49:59
version version: 8
version ubuntu: 20141104
version device: 20141017.2
version custom: 20141104

While taking pictures, I noticed that I was forced to swipe left for photo roll after the first picture, blocking the app entirely until the user swipes as described by the message 'Swipe left for photo roll'.

This annoyed me in particular because I was trying to take a series of photos when travelling (for a particular moment in time), but I could not take the photos I wanted because the UI forced me to act to it, instead of just letting me taking my own pictures.

Apparently some first time users have difficulties discovering you can find the photo roll by swiping right within the camera (although we have an animation of the photo you just took moving to the right).

To alleviate this, we are showing a guide/tip the first time the user takes a photo, which shows the user how to access the photo roll. AFAIK it's only shown once - the first time you run the camera app. Not sure if this is done again every time you update the image/app, or truly on the first use? Should be first use only.

In terms of *forcing* the user to perform the swipe to get past the guide screen, we discussed this with Florian on the last sprint. There were two options:

1) Dismiss the guide screen on tap/have a skip button at the bottom, return to camera viewfinder. Have faith in first time user to have learnt the photo roll swipe action without forcing them to do it

2) Force first time user to do the swipe to get to photo roll, and leave it to them to get back to the camera viewfinder

We went for 2) but I am open to either one - probably 1) would be nicer.

Florian - opinions?

I expect it to react as described by the first option.
