Bug Description

Each time I copy a movie to an USB stick, everything becomes slow. Mouse polling gets frozen. System becomes unstable until the copy process is complete.

But the following dmesg output tells me something interesting:

    [ 7430.732424] usb 2-5: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci
    [ 7430.938484] usb 2-5: New USB device found, idVendor=1b1c, idProduct=1ab1

This is interesting:

[ 7432.709556] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through

Any clues?

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Joseph but I do not want to test with the latest kernel. Too dangerous for me.

Last week I tried that for another ticket and then I couldn't boot my machine anymore. Took me hours to reinstall and reconfigure the whole system.

I guess it must be related to Nautilus. When I pick a different manager, the copy process to the USB stick seems to be fine.

Or could it be related to some bad parameters in sysctl.conf such a parameters related to the dirty file cache?
