Cant login as root

On an install on VirtualBox attempts to login as root on synaptic and root-terminal using password torios fail

Thanks for taking time to report this!
This is a known bug, and is related to pkexec.

The current workaround would be to manually run this:
/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1

or to add it to the autostart!

Since this is still in the Alpha stage we will be implementing a permenant fix to this issue.
There are, perhaps, more elegant ways of doing this rather than adding it to autostart :)

Adding it to autostart means I can now get synaptic running. The Root Terminal doesnt authenticate though!

well, glad one is working... I will have to look into the root terminal issue more... That is not one I normally use :)
Thanks for testing this and finding this issue!!

I will look into the desktop file for the root terminal. It may be a good idea to simply remove this item from the menu though, as it can be dangerous for novice users to have a root terminal. It can be dangerous for well seasoned users too :)

What do you think? We had a discussion on the mailing list about removing it a while back... let me know your views on it!

I found out why the terminal wont work.
Try installing gksu
sudo apt-get install gksu

It works for me here.

I cant get the networking going - it worked on the ISO but after
install.. I could have played with it thou so it might not be a bug more
a prat....
When the new iso comes out I'll give it a go
