Upgrade to libmlt6 (0.9.3+git20141005.22abed67-0ubuntu0~sunab~utopic1), which is now in the repo, fixed the problem.

When I installed kdenlive from this ppa

ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release

I managed to export audio as well.

The same here. I am too embarassed as I was preparing a birthday video which has 1080p videos and I wasted my 3 hours to render it...

This is not related to kdenlive, but also openShot.

It doesn't work for me, no updates in official repos.
Is there any way to fix (update lib) it?

As i mentioned in #6 post if you need to upgrade you kdenlive to 0.9.10 version, for that you should use the above ppa ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release

And you need to remove kdenlive, because upgrading with that ppa does not work (at least for me)

remove kdenlive, add ppa, update source list, and install kdenlive.

This affects both Kdenlive and Openshot. While trying to solve this problem I came across an old bug report on the Kdenlive bug tracker. Basically it had something to do with the way FFmpeg options were set.

same problem here no audio at all when rendering,
i read also the threads suggested by aikiwolfie (https://bugs.kdenlive.org/view.php?id=2318) but they solved that bug for what i understand (was a misuse of -b and -ab ... they finally suggest the -vb for video bitrate and -ab for audio..)

ok now it work.
as suggested by levanchelidze on #10.

note that after the installation of kdenlive 9.10 i had to update also the libmlt6 otherwise it will not work (for me)
i give this command:

sudo apt-get install libmlt6

and now i have audio on rendered video!

i get the libmlt6 there:

Priority of this bug has been raised to "high" in November last year. Actually, the whole package kdenlive should not be left completely useless until Ubuntu 15.04!

Installing the .deb mentioned in #13 fails due to other dependencies.

#6 doesn't tell the full URL of the PPA repository which might contain a solution. Please put always full URLs in here, ideal is the full line necessary for the files in /etc/apt/sources.d - there is no point in saving a couple of bytes.

I confirm that it is possible to have some sound on the export this way:

sudo apt-get remove kdenlive
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release
sudo apt-get install kdenlive libmlt6

And rendering works well, with sound, with existing projects
