exactly what error message did you get and what Ubuntu version do you use?

If it's really the damaged tar file then I suspect it's a temporary issue. Just try again. I highly doubt that the packages in the archive are really damaged.

If you just had "some problem installing Wine please have a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/1682469, the "issue of the month".
