Bug Description
Binary package hint: amarok
In gutsy.
Whatever Amarok does with files when it's updating/rescanning the collection is too intensive for slow(ish) network links.
I don't know if it reads (transfers) the entire file to get a hash of it or something like that, but it takes simply forever (several days for 40GB) to update the collection when on a relatively slow link (768kilobit).
Perhaps Amarok should have a "network mode" for this situation, where it doesn't transfer the whole file (assuming this is what's happening). Ideally this should be automatically detected, but a manual setting would be fine too.
