Network Manager OpenVPN Gnome VPN service disappeared

Bug Description

I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10. I set up my VPN using the same settings that worked in 14.04. When I try to connect using the nm-applet gui I get no visual indication that anything is happening. I get the following in the syslog:
