Bug Description

After installing the kernel panics at the first boot from harddisk with the following error:

EIP: [<f8a9f5b1>] cpqhp_ctrl_intr+0x191/0x680 [cpqhp] SS:ESP 0068:c03e7ee8
Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exeption in interrupt

The kernel from the install cd never panics, i tried with feisty, gutsy and even debian 4.0, all with the same error.
Another old DL380G3 in our network running Debian 3.1 with a 2.4.x kernel is running fine ever since.

I tried with kernel parameter "acpi=off" but got the same results as above.

I got the same result with kernel 2.6.22 when running Ubuntu 7.04 i386 server, fully patched on a HP DL 380 G3

I haven't any more kernel panic since I changed in BIOS in Operating systems meny from Windows 2000/Windows 2003 to Linux

It's still not stable, something is wrong with my machine and "stress" can't run for many seconds before exit with errors

I had the OS Type already set on "Linux" in the BIOS Setup. I also tested it with the other modes, everything resulting in the same kernel panic as described above.

i attached the whole boot process output captured per serial console. the real oops seems to be in the SMP module:

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta or later?
