Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro intermittently experiences screen corruption with Web browsers and Skype forcing a restart

I will take photos and attach to this bug later. Every few hours I'm forced to reboot due to screen corruption which may be due to flaky 3D or acceleration support. When doing video-intensive things like Skype/Hangout video call the current window will disappear behind the browser and show up inside the Unity Launcher. Eventually I can no longer type or use the mouse and the system will reboot itself.

An additional data point is that, when I first tun on the system, it takes about 3 seconds to draw the Plymouth screen and, if grub asks me to pick a boot option, about 5 seconds for the grub screen to draw from the bottom up (which makes me believe it might be poor acceleration support).

Ellen Arnold, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-pro-lenovo an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (76CN41WW). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
