Search box isn't always focused when clicking on search

Normally when we click on the search button in the dash, the search field appears, is focused and the keyboard pops up. With a certain amount of use, I am now finding that sometimes it won't appear. The exact circumstances are still unclear, but with 10-15 minutes usage it should eventually happen. I'll keep looking for some firm reproduction steps.
