Bug Description
Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
I've installed several packages e. g. kile, lyx, labplot etc. with appropriate language-packs (e. g. kile-i18n-de) as well as kde-language-packs and general system language packs (german). On Gutsy 64bit these programs are completely in English despite the language-packs. But on Gutsy 32bit the same packages are translated to german. This concerns also packages which are not in the repositories such as CrossoverOffice. At CrossOver the core is in English but installed programs within are in German whereas on Gutsy 32bit it is ok at all.
Additionally I've tried to removing all non German language packs as far as possible (dependencies) with no result.
By the way, the core packages like OpenOffice, Kontact, Firefox etc as well as the system itself are not affected.
On both systems the same packages were installed at all and locale report the same output:
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
LC_CTYPE=
LC_NUMERIC=
LC_TIME=
LC_COLLATE=
LC_MONETARY=
LC_MESSAGES=
LC_PAPER=
LC_NAME=
LC_ADDRESS=
LC_TELEPHONE=
LC_MEASUREMENT=
LC_IDENTIFICATI
LC_ALL=
So, this issue seems not to be related to the translation process but rather to the 64bit platform.
Best regards
Frank

If I try to force starting a program (lyx for example) with german language via
LANGUAGE= "de_DE. utf8" lyx
I got "Locale de_DE could not be set"
