Bug Description

I suspend my tablet pc to ram, then resume, and the pen stops working. I will be glad to provide more information, just tell me what to report.

In the X server log, it's evident that there is an error on the wacom driver. Restarting the server does not make the pen work.

Did this work before? I recall that suspend has regularly been a problem.

In feisty it works perfectly. However I also have opened bug #137477. Maybe these are related. Is there a way to have debug output from the wacom driver?

Seems to have nothing to do with bug #137477

Does this still occur with the latest version of the kernel? There was a recent git commit to the kernel to disable autosuspend for usb devices that may be related.

Unfortunately my power charger is broken and I am really busy, so I don't have the time to think about that. I am using another laptop in the meantime, so can't provide additional information. Please don't close the bug, just leave it in incomplete status, I will provide required info as soon as possible.

I have a tabletpc toshiba satellite R15-S829 with this problem too. my wacom tablet is recognised on the serial port, so maybe not related to usb suspend kernel stuff. I really don't know much on this subject, I only know that in feisty it was working for me without problems and I used the tablet weekly.

any ideas

by the way this must be a duplicate of the bug 108961 Maybe I missed it with the latest kernels in Feisty, because I wasn't using suspend to much lately in Feisty, because too often it went wrong anyhow with i810 and 855GM.
So probably this bug indeed already appeared in Feisty. For the rest it is the same bug, wacom tablet no longer working after suspend or hibernation.

Unsetting the duplicate status since, as explained in comments bug #108961, these are two different bugs. Ironically enough, the solution has been posted in the other bug. It is a workaround which makes the pen work again, however the opinion of a kernel developer is required to verify what the workaround does exactly.

Many thanks to Tom Jaeger for opening the road to a solution.
