Bug Description

When I run the alternate install CD on my i386, after scanning hardware to find CD drives, that progress box disappears and it stays on the blank blue install screen (with the grey at the bottom). This is true for both Edgy and Feisty installers. The same happens whether selecting "Install from text mode" or "Test CD for defects."

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the beta version of the alternate CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/
If that also fails, it is important for us to understand which hardware you have. If you can get a Live CD running, please add the output of lspci -v as attachment to this bug report.
If you cannot get any Ubuntu version running, please provide information about the PC you are using, like vendor, type, mainboard type, CD-ROM drive type etc.
Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
