Bug Description

In the Evergreen 2.6.2 in the language file /openils/var/data/locale/cs-CZ.po some new translations are missing (Launchpad-Export-Date: 2012-05-06), which means, some Czech strings are missing in the translation file and are not displayed in TPAC.
Please, don not forget to update the language files in 2.7 release.
Thanks a lot :-)
Eva

Hmm... checking on our i18n procedures to make sure there isn't a problem with this. That does sound like it's potentially quite out of date...

The problem might be really more complex - I looked at another language files (fr-CA.po, fi-FI.po) and they seem to be out of date too.
I wonder whether it might not have something to do with another bug I have reported, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1373578 .

Eva,

I think I may have identified a problem with our i18n translation merging scripts and it has not been properly updating translations from Launchpad to Evergreen releases.

I've started a fix in this working branch with updated PO files for a bunch of translations including yours.

Working: user/bshum/update-pofiles-script

http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/user/bshum/update-pofiles-script

I mentioned it to Dan Scott (dbs) in IRC and we're probably going to get this fixed for future Evergreen versions.

I can be sure to update the translations more appropriately for 2.7.1 release next month, the first 2.7.0 does not have the necessary fixes.

Ben,

Thanks a lot :-)
I have manually edited the Czech language file (and in some cases directly template toolkit files), which temporarily solves most of our problems with displaying Czech in OPAC in my library at the moment, but the information about possible fixes in future Evergreen versions is quite useful for another Czech library that is currently preparing migration to Evergreen.
Just for the sake of completeness: this problem may be probably related to another reported bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1357997

or (but this I think is less probable) to some bugs related to non-English characters:

Thanks for the extra links to other potential issues with translation Eva. I think we'll try tackling those all one issue at a time and seeing how much is or is not resolved with the updated translation files that will ship with Evergreen 2.7.1 (due out next week).

Thanks again!
