Bug Description

[upgrade-software-version] Concordance

Concordance is a configuration tool for Harmony universal remotes. It allows you to update or backup configurations, upgrade firmware, or do IR-learning.

URL: http://www.phildev.net/concordance/
License: GPL2
Notes: Concordance 1.1 adds Harmony Link support, fixes firmware backups, a variety of USBNet remote bugs, and a variety of other small bugs. There is a tarball available from debian at: http://qa.debian.org/watch/sf.php/concordance/concordance-1.1.tar.bz2

Additional info:
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS which currently provides conordance 1.0-2ubuntu1

Hi Roland,

Thanks for reporting! As best as I can tell, this probably doesn't meet the requirements for a SRU (ie, they generally don't upgrade to new versions of packages after a release has been made):
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

Would you be interested in a PPA instead?

Yes, sorry, this was my first LaunchPad upgrade request, and I found a lot of conflicting information about how to file package update requests. Thank you for the link about StableReleaseUpdates, I understand now the guidelines for package updates after release. A PPA for Ubuntu 14 would be great but not necessary. I just wanted to ensure that the update was/would be available _somewhere_ soon. So, if Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn makes this updated package available, then I would expect this bug to be closed as "fixed in 14.10" or some such.

For this particular issue, it looks like I shall have to be patient for when Concordance 1.1 enters a Debian stable release, after which Ubuntu will automatically include it at some point.

At the time that I filed the report, I didn't realize that the debian package was still in "unstable." See upstream's page, which actually links back to this bug somehow: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/concordance

Please feel free to close / WONTFIX as you see fit.

If I made a PPA, would you use it? If no one will use it, I probably
won't bother.

It turns out that Concordance 1.1 is already in Utopic, see:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/concordance

Actually, Ubuntu pulls in packages from Debian *unstable* - and that is
why it is already in Utopic.

We still need to get it into Debian testing so that it will go into
Jessie, though. :) I'll have to keep pestering Matt about that.

No PPA necessary. 1.0 works well enough for my current hardware, I'm willing to either compile from source or wait for Utopic when I get a new remote.
