Bug Description

I paste new videos on my phone, open the video scope. The scope only showing four out of my seven videos. So basically mediascanner crashed while creating thumbnails.

Also please ignore the launchpad messages, the bug was invalidated since it was reported from rtm branch. I have attached the .crash file for the developers ease.

Mediascanner does not generate thumbnails. It has never done so, that is thumbnailer's job.

What is happening here is that gstreamer metadata extractor is buggy and crashes on some files. This is a known issue and Mediascanner has protections against this as it remembers what files caused it to crash and skips those. Marking as duplicate.
