Bug Description

When using Ubuntu Mono in gnome-terminal, → and ← characters overlap into the next character. This is somewhat fine if they are surrounded by spaces, but it's hard to read when someone does a→b with no spaces around the arrow.

Okay, seeing how it appears to render fine in Chromium, this might be more of a gnome-terminal issue and less of a font issue.

Seems that emacs renders it fine in X11 mode too, but for some reason, the cursor looks wider when it is over the arrow characters.
