I gave it a quick shot by adjusting the z property, but I could not get it over the events.

I think its nature of timeline view. How other calendar App's behave in this situation ? Whatever I seen, it behaves same way as our current implementation.
Setting opacity might introduce performance problem, it's costly drawing operation. If we have many event bubbles, then setting opacity is not good idea.
