Lost "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" after update

Bug Description
This is the second time that, after updating, I am left with the Cape Verde/Pitcairn device only, which has never been able to produce sounds on my Precison M4800 (Dell). The Built-in Audio Analog Stereo device, which is the one that produces sounds disappears.
The first time I solved this by running 'sudo alsa force-reload'.
This secon time it did not address the issue and there was a messag eindicatting that most snd_hda* modules failed to unload..
As a last resort, I switch from xserver-
