Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubufox
I installed Adblock via Ubufox in Gusty Gibbon Tribe 5, but I realized it wasn't effective and decided to install AdBlock Plus via normal Firefox Add-ons option. AdBlockPlus discovered that the older version of AdBlock have already been installed and suggested to uninstall it before running AdBlockPlus.
In my opinion ubufox isn't needed because the default way of getting extensions to Firefox works better.I think creating Ubuntu section in Firefox extensions website would be better way to go (Or at least the extensions in ubufox should be updated faster.)Why we should change something that is good and effective?

I agree that Adblock should be replaced by Adblock Plus. Is Adblock even being developed/ maintained anymore? I know ABP is. However, some extensions require elevated privilges to install. As well, the Lightning extension for Thunderbird does not work without installing it from the repositories, so I'm not sure where to draw the line this. Put extensions that require modifications to work with Mozilla apps that are installed from the repos into Synaptic and Ubufox (presumably something similar will also exist for Thunderbird at some point so that people will know to use the repo version of Lightning instead of from the Mozilla site). Or put in common extensions that have been confirmed to work well with Ubuntu's Firefox?
The only reason I picked up on Adblock and these extensions was with watching the Month of Screencasts (http:// screencasts. ubuntu. com/) in Miro and they touched on Firefox and adding extensions in this new way.
