Bug Description

errors were encountered during upgrade from previous LTS version to 12.04
One of errors was with regard to disk space
the / partition was filling up during installation and should have had old versions of linux-image files removed before starting the upgrade.
It would help to include a check for adequate space before the upgrade procedes so that it doesn't fill up with downloaded temporary file for new packages
