I got this error when I am using the Spotify for Linux preview. At time the spotify icon will appear twice in the notification area. After clicking on one of them wingpanel will crash and then restart with only one icon. I have been able to replicate the bug through normal use three times so far.

Same as Zach: Spotify icon doubled. Clicked both of them. With the second one no menu appeared but wingpanel crashed and restarted with a single icon.

I was recording a video for another wingpanel crash and I was able to catch this on video. Spotify creates "ghost" indicators which cause the wingpanel to crash when activated.

Ditto! Same issue. Not to mention that the icon that Spotify creates is a bit fuzzy on my end.

Just had the same issue. I think it started with Synology Cloud Station app.

I found temporary solution.

Spotify is using sni-qt package to show indicator. Removing that package will disable indicator but this solution will affect other Qt based applications like Skype. Now panel not crashing on spotify start.
