[Lenovo ThinkPad T440p] hybrid sleep didn't sleep

Bug Description

Lenovo ThinkPad T440p ( CID 201309-14169 ) on Ubuntu 14.04
3.13.0-24-generic

use the command to ask the system to hybrid sleep

sudo fwts -q --stdout-summary -r hybrid_sleep_single --s3-hybrid --s3-sleep-delay 30 --s3-device-check --s3-device-check-delay 45 s3

and the system didn't went to sleep.
Only the screen is black and nothing happened.

More information:
this system has an discrete nvidia graphic card [10de:1290]
but this issue happened under
performance mode and power-saving mode both.

Taihsiang Ho, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update to your BIOS is available (2.25). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
